TRIAD

In 2003 the Sussex County Sheriff’s Office in collaboration with the Division of Senior Services and the Sussex County Chiefs of Police formed –  Sussex County Triad.   Sussex  County Triad currently consists of  25 senior members.   

A Triad consists of a partnership which involves  

  1. A Sheriff
  2. The Chiefs of Police in the County
  3. The Division of Senior Services

who agree to work together.  The goals are to reduce the criminal victimization of seniors and enhance the delivery of law enforcement services population.  Triad provides the opportunity for an exchange of information between law enforcement and senior citizens.

SUSSEX COUNTY TRIAD – SENIOR CITIZENS POLICE ACADEMY  

Sussex County Triad offers county seniors (55 years and older) a unique opportunity to learn about the complex roles of modern day law enforcement agencies.  Speakers from municipal, county, state and other agencies offer insight into their roles in law enforcement as well as the role of citizens in assisting in those agencies in the war against crime and terrorism.  

Enrollment in this course involves a nine week commitment to attend weekly classes at the Sussex County Fire Academy.  Topics include crime prevention, personal safety, home security, gang awareness, narcotics lecture, fraud, demonstration by the Sheriff’s Emergency Services (K-9 and Tactical Response Unit).


SENIOR PHOTO ID’S

 Requirements:  

  1. 55 Years and older
  2. Sussex County Residents
  3. Identification

Appointments for Senior ID’s:

Individuals can make appointments for Senior ID’s with Sgt. Terry Hospodar by calling 973-579-0888.  The Senior ID’s are done at the Sussex County Sheriff’s Office located at 39 High Street, Newton, New Jersey.

Senior Groups or Facilities:  can make arrangements for the Sheriff’s Office to come to their location by contacting Sgt. Terry Hospodar at 973-579-0888 or by submitting a letter to Sheriff Robert E. Untig, 39 High Street, Newton, New Jersey.

 The letter of request should include:   

  1. The name of the organization/club
  2. The name and telephone number of a contact person
  3. The location where the Senior ID’s will be done
  4. The number of individuals to have ID’s done
  5. The date and time for the Senior ID’s to be done (please include alternate dates for Senior ID’s to be done; as the date you may be requesting is unavailable)

 NEW JERSEY STATE TRIAD

Sussex County Triad members also participate in events and activities sponsored by the New Jersey State Triad Association such as, Triad University, picnics, etc.  


DIVISION OF SENIOR SERVICES

Sussex County Triad members also participate in activities and events with the Division of Senior Services such as, volunteering at the Division of Senior Services Booth at the Fair, delivering gifts to seniors at Christmas through a program called Earth Angels founded by a local attorney, Elenora L.
