Correctional FacilityOverview

The Keogh-Dwyer Correctional Facility (KDCF) was opened in 1978. It was named in honor of Walter Keogh-Dwyer, a long-time Sussex County resident who served as a state assemblyman, freeholder and mayor of Vernon Township.
The facility, designed to hold male and female inmates of varying degrees of charges according to their respective classification, houses anywhere from 110 to 225 inmates on any given day.
KDCF is a full-spectrum 24-hour operation professionally and efficiently operated by sworn corrections officers, on-site licensed medical staff, social workers, administrative staff and volunteers. For the past six years, KDCF has attained 100% compliance with the standards prescribed by the state for adult county correctional facilities.
The correctional facility also offers a multitude of inmate programs including GED preparation courses, substance abuse classes, Alcoholics Anonymous, bible study, religious services, parenting and inmate worker programs.
